We Build Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across sectors, including energy, roads, and public infrastructure. The role involves managing project costs, contractual relationships, and commercial performance from pre-construction through to final account.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in line with high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Management

  • Lead all commercial aspects of allocated projects, ensuring effective cost control and value management
  • Prepare, review, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow
  • Administer contracts (e.g. NEC, ICE, or similar forms), including change control and compensation events
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and account settlement
  • Ensure timely valuation submissions and agreement of interim and final accounts

Project Delivery Support

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to support the delivery of complex civil engineering works
  • Provide commercial advice during project planning, design development, and execution
  • Monitor project risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
  • Lead or support commercial meetings, reporting on cost performance and forecasts
  • Ensure collaborative working in line with modern contracting approaches and early contractor involvement

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations, and industry standards
  • Support adherence to quality, safety, and environmental management systems
  • Maintain accurate records and audit trails for all commercial activities

Key RequirementsQualifications & Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
  • Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent) desirable
  • Significant experience in civil engineering or infrastructure projects (e.g. energy, roads, marine, or utilities)
  • Proven track record managing large-scale or complex projects

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract (particularly NEC)
  • Excellent understanding of cost management, procurement, and contract administration
  • Experience working on projects in challenging or remote environments is advantageous
