We Build Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Electrical Estimator for a UK-based electrical contractor delivering installation and project services across commercial, industrial, and domestic sectors. It focuses on providing tailored electrical solutions, combining technical expertise with efficient project delivery. The business emphasises quality workmanship, safety compliance, and building long-term client relationships.

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical installation projects across a range of sectors (e.g., commercial, industrial, and domestic). The role involves analysing technical drawings, specifications, and client requirements to produce detailed tenders that support business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed electrical estimates and tenders from drawings, specifications, and client documentation
Carry out take-offs and quantify materials, labour, and subcontract requirements
Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify technical and commercial aspects
Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
Produce accurate cost plans, budgets, and tender submissions within deadlines
Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings, and client briefings where required
Maintain and update estimating databases, rates, and supplier information
Support handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements

Key Skills & ExperienceEssential

Proven experience in electrical estimating within an installation or contracting environment
Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills
Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines

Desirable

Experience across commercial and/or industrial projects
Knowledge of current UK electrical regulations (e.g., BS 7671)
Familiarity with design & build or turnkey project environments
Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering)
